On June 6th the Massachusetts International Festival of Arts welcomes the premiere performance of Memorias by the Victory Players.

The work, scored for violin, cello, flute, clarinet, piano and percussion, was commissioned by the Massachusetts International Festival of Arts for the Victory Players, conducted by the International Conductor Tian Hui Ng.

The work is in three movements titled Prologo, Atardecer en Varadero (Sunset in Varadero) and Carnaval. Of the work, Martínez says: 'It is based on my memories of Cuba as a young child. Prologo is a reminder of Afro Cuban drums; Varadero is a beautiful Cuban beach where I remember having lovely walks; and Carnaval is just that, the excitement of Carnival with lots of dancing and singing.'
